instead of questioning the scientific endeavor in the name of eliminating poverty.we must question the other wasteful expenditure by the govt money wasted there can be put to poverty removal.Indian govt/constitution/country being secular should not waste money on any religious activities(just food for thought).

moon mission is as necessary as removing poverty,as we gain knowledge here. And gaining knowledge is not waste of money.People must learn from the basic sholka we used to learn in school in sanskrit course:

vidyaa dadaati vinayaM vinayaadyaati paatrataam
paatratvaaddhanamaapnoti dhanaaddharmaM tataH sukhaM

"Knowledge generates humility, by humility one becomes worthy, being
worthy one earns wealth, with wealth one gains religiosity, and by
religiosity one becomes happy".

So west and the Macaulayites Indians JNU types who harps the tune of their white supremacist masters in west about poverty just to gain attention should not tell us all this coz we know where to put over money for better use and how we must remove poverty.

Our heritage is one of seeking to understand life and the Universe. ISRO is doing India proud. Indigenous technological development has earned us respect in the World. India's military has similarly achieved success, but more needs to be done. The success of Chandrayaan has shown that large numbers of Indians both in India and around the World felt overjoyed that India is finally waking up to its true potential. More needs to be done, simply because we can. And that sums up the issue. Character comes before all else. As it is said, it is smarter to teach a man to fish rather than feed a man a fish. This means we develop our own technology, our way for our needs, rather than beg or buy technology from those who do not mean us well.

The Naysayers do not deserve space on this forum. This forum is only for proud Indians and those who wish her well.

This is bullshit! Look at how the space program has helped. Distance education, mineral mapping, crop distribution, water resources, meteorology, weather forecasting, satellite communication and most of all it has become a multi billion dollar business as we sell our our remote sensing maps all over the world as well as make money from commercial launches.

And remember, this entire Chandrayaan-1 program costs the govt only Rs 350 crores. That's the cost of just ONE advanced fighter aircraft! Or 1/10th the cost of ONE American B-2 bomber!!!

So why are people bellyaching? Poverty can NEVER be completely eliminated. Even America has its share of poor. So should mankind put everything on hold and not evolve and stagnate forever?

Default Refraining misuse of this forum by "negativites" or "anti-bhartees/anti-indians"

It is shocking to see that different shades of "negativites", with demonic negative energies, keep on harping to stop any progress of India, in the name/pretext of improving socio-economic conditions of our poor brotheren!

Can't we somehow insure that our chandrayaan forum is not misused / contaminated by ill / sick thoughts of such class of so "called elite socialists/ communists /humanists", who can never see Bharat i.e.India to prosper in all walks of life/style/science & technology!

Chandrayaan mission is a symbol of India's determination to ultimately provide leadership in next 20-30 years, in the field of deep space voyages, by evolving technologies with are indigenous, relatively cheapest and therefore affordable .

So this forum should be used for positive thoughts, constructive creativity and visionary futuristic endeavors. Let the readers paint their dreams and expectations from such space ventures and may even suggest "action plans" to ISRO/appropriate agencies, to accomplish the same!

Let us make our progress to be accelerated pace, with exponential growth, so that new technologies of water recycling, energy conservation, solar technologies /energy based devices /systems, modeling of atmospheric behavior and prediction of rainfall/sunshine etc, evolved and perfected for successful chandrayaan missions, could be applied to removing of poverty & hunger etc.

Angry Unthinking.....

I wonder: why do people post opinions without some prior thought and knowledge of true facts?
It is a 'fashion' to crib about water & food in place of scientific advances.

A little more search would surely bring out the fact that these scientific adventures are highly profitable- both financially and otherwise.

Over the past 35yrs, Ive heard enough of these people cribbing , without any contributions from their side, towards what they feel must be moot issues of priority.

ISRO is the most favoured space agency in the world today, and has fast become the favorite destination for space researchers. This has increased our income from the American as well as the European customers, inspite of severe competition from the so called advanced countries.

ISRO is not a private company and does not believe in harping about its profits. This does not mean that the 'hard earned money ' of the citizens is being used solely for some stupid experiments without beneficial returns.

Time these cribbers understood that Space research and travel is a VERY profitable business, where private operators too are showing keen interest and are investing huge sums of money in this field. Our rockets are the most favoured in the world today and there is a huge queue for our services.

The returns from this business is actually providing the means for more food & water along with business opportunities for thousands of people in India.
