Whether visitors are permitted to see the Chandrayaan-1 launch?

Greetings!

I am Subathra, from Bangalore, India. I am interested to know whether visitors are permitted to see the launch of Chandrayaan-1 on October 22, 2008 at Sriharikota.

If yes, then what is the process involved in this. Does any registration required.
Would like to hear the possibility of watching the launch.

I am from Bangalore and I wish to see the launch live at Sriharikota. I have spend hours trying to find whether they have any arrangements for visitiors at/near the launch site. I couldn't get any info regarding this.

I dont want to miss this oppertunity. So if you have any clue, do share it with us.

I would like to view the launch too. I do not know anyone in SHAR. Does anybody haven an idea of the lauch is visible from a distance, may be from nearby Sulupettai town?

I have decided... I'll be there to witness the launch. I am not sure how close I can get, but I'll try my best.

i have talked to a few people.. the closest you can get is a place called 'kudi' 6km from 'sullerpet' town.

you will see me there on 22nd

We started at 2:30am from chennai and reached there by 4:30. They didn't allow us into the main viewing area but we ould see the launch clearly from nearby location. We took the road between Sulurpet and Sriharikpota and turned right tinto a kuccha road about 4 km from the main gate....We got a nice view across the lake...The thundering sound reached us about 10 sec after the flare became visible. After about a sec, the rocket disappeared into dark clouds only to reappear after crossing the cloud layer....The trail kept becoming longer and after about 10 sec, the rocket wasn't visible anymore.....Lot of claps from all spectators
